THE PARISIAN SUMO WRESTLERS
France, 2015 - 2016.
Neither over weighted, or Japanese. Still, they chose to become Sumo Wrestlers following the tradition but with their own codes.
Many discovered this martial art when it was on Eurosport (a french sport channel).
After sharing during many months his passion on internet, Antoine Marvier decided in 2009 to found the Paris Sumo, the one and only club of Sumo in France.
The wrestlers are coming every Sunday to a gymnasium in the 2nd district of Paris.
The dohyo (the ring) is normally made of clay, but here, Antoine Marvier made it from truck’s tarpaulin.
The wrestlers (a dozen) try to respect the art of Sumo while having fun in doing it.
